DNA barcode release for the sawflies and horntails (Symphyta)

The study presents and evaluates the results of DNA barcoding of about 5,360 specimens of sawflies and horntails. A total of 4,362 sequences covering 1,037 species are included in the analysis. It covers about 12% of all species of ‘Symphyta’, with representatives of all extant families (except the the Anaxyelidae, of which sequences were already present in BOLD and GenBank).

Updated classification

Simplified phylogeny of PergidaeThe classification of the Pergidae has been updated based an analysis of phylogenetic relationships within the family. The family now comprises 12 instead of previously 14 subfamilies. The Euryinae are now included in the Perreyiinae, and the Phylacteophaginae are placed within the Acordulecerinae.
